Day 208: Best of Portland Trick-or-Treating

It’s Halloween crunch time – only 6 days left for costume selection, pumpkin carving, and last-minute party plans. Speaking of, do you know where you’re trick-or-treating this year? Portland was named the 3rd best city to trick-or-treat in, and with a little help from Zillow.com, here is a complied list of the top 5 best neighborhoods to trick-or-treating in this coming weekend.  The list takes everything into account- the most candy given, safety, and proximity of houses.  Based on this information hopefully your kids can get the most out of their candy hunting.

Without further delay, here are the Top 5 neighborhoods to check out:

Number 1: Richmond (Hawthorne)

This delightful community is filled with friendly people and well-lit streets making it comfortable and safe for your little ones as they run from house to house.

Number 2: Northwest Heights (Sylvan)

Community is what this neighborhood is all about.  Enjoy a slightly upscale neighborhood with soaring views of the Portland landscape.

Number 3: Sellwood

This neighborhood is a Portland classic with streets lined with trees and multitudes of people enjoying local cafes and shops.

Number 4: Laurelhurst

This area has character like no other.  The homes are funky and unique and have every bit of charm you can expect from one of Portland’s most popular neighborhoods.

Number 5: Eastmoreland

This neighborhood is my absolute DREAM neighborhood with large, beautiful homes and perfectly manicured lawns.  You can almost always find kids playing in the streets and people walking their dogs.

So there you have it, Portland!  Get out and have a great trick-or-treat evening this weekend! And let me know if you had a chance to make it to one of the top 5.

Then let the kids sit down and eat it all. Yes, they will be sick but after a good brushing of their teeth and one sleepless night they will leave candy alone, perhaps until Christmas. =)
