As a cheers to one of my near and dear friends as she celebrates her birthday, I want to suggest one of the best places in town to celebrate with friends. Here’s to you Mikal, Happy Birthday! You make everyday a joy at Northwest Mortgage Advisors.
Whether it’s a birthday, bachelor/bachelorette party, or any type of celebration, make your destination the Barrel Room. It’s a dueling piano bar, and one heck of a great time. I was going to make a point to get some video footage but I highly doubt any of you want to hear my signing voice – it’s one only a mother could love (and I’m pretty sure mine still doesn’t).
Don’t worry, the people on stage at the Barrel Room can carry a tune, and they know how to work the crowd! As this hot spot grows on the Portland popularity chart, you should know that one of its attractions is the dueling pianos. The bar is Portland’s only dueling piano bar, and it is sure to have you and your entire crew laughing, dancing, and belting out lyrics to some of your favorite hits. You can even send requests to be sure your favorite tune is played. Sometimes both pianos are located on stage, but I’ve seen it when the one looks like it’s literally stuck to the side of the wall. The pianist has to climb a ladder up to a platform to play it vertically- it’s quite the challenge I’m sure! If you need a little fresh air from all the dancing, there is a giant outdoor white tent attached to the bar, where there is more dancing and socializing- Barrel room has the best of both worlds.
This popular venue is open Thursday through Saturday however the talented piano musicians only break out the tunes on Fridays and Saturdays between 9pm-11pm. Show up before the tables are moved to make the dance floor, and enjoy drinks and great menu options, perfect for sharing.
